About FLEAS

Friends of Little Elm Animal Support is a non-profit dedicated to improving animal lives in Little Elm, Texas and surrounding communities. We uplift shelter pets through Adoption Impact Programs—providing medical support, marketing, and subsidies—and strengthen our community through Shelter Surrender Prevention, including an emergency food pantry, spay/neuter assistance, and microchip clinics.

ABOUT FLEAS

Friends of Little Elm Animal Support

Friends of Little Elm Animal Support (FLEAS) is an all‑volunteer 501(c)(3) public charity, recognized as a nonprofit corporation in the State of Texas.

Our mission is simple yet powerful: to ensure every animal in the Little Elm area has the opportunity to thrive in a loving home. This work is made possible through community programs, shelter support, the commitment of volunteers, and the generosity of donors.

Our twofold approach:

  • Prevent pet surrenders before crisis hits by supporting families facing financial hardship or unexpected challenges.
  • Boost shelter adoptions through Pet of the Week marketing, emergency medical funds, adoption subsidies, and rescue partnerships.

With our Shelter Surrender Prevention programs and Adoption Impact programs, we aim to reduce shelter intakes and help more pets find and stay in forever homes.

FLEAS is not a rescue organization and does not house or adopt out animals directly.

FAQ

No. FLEAS is a separate nonprofit organization and is not involved in the management, policies, or operational decisions of the Little Elm Animal Shelter.

The shelter is operated by the Town of Little Elm. For questions about shelter operations, adoptable pets, or pet surrenders, please contact Little Elm Animal Services directly at 972‑377‑1898 or animalservices@littleelm.org.

FLEAS Grant to Little Elm Animal Shelter

FLEAS is an independent 501(c)(3) public charity, separate from the Little Elm Animal Shelter. FLEAS is an all-volunteer organization and does not have offices at the shelter. Our programs are powered entirely by the generosity of our community of donors and the dedication of volunteers.

We partner with the Little Elm Animal Shelter in meaningful ways, including:

  • Promoting shelter pet adoptions through marketing campaigns
  • Offering emergency medical funds for shelter animals
  • Providing adoption subsidies to help pets find homes
  • Connecting animals with trusted rescue partners
  • Transporting injured or orphaned wildlife to rehabilitation centers

The Little Elm Animal Shelter itself is operated by the Town of Little Elm. When shelter management identifies needs beyond the town’s budget, FLEAS provides support—when funding is available—for items that improve the comfort, care, and quality of life of shelter pets.

No. FLEAS is not a shelter or a rescue organization, and we do not handle pets directly.

FLEAS highlights shelter pets through our Pet of the Week marketing, but we do not house animals, accept surrenders, or handle adoptions directly. Our role is to support shelter pets and community animals through funding, volunteer efforts, and compassionate programs—not to operate as a rescue or adoption agency.

For questions about adoptable pets or pet surrenders, please contact Little Elm Animal Services directly at 972‑377‑1898 or animalservices@littleelm.org.

FLEAS is a 501(c)(3) public charity, recognized as tax‑exempt under federal law. Donations to FLEAS may be deductible under IRS guidelines (donors should consult their tax advisors regarding individual circumstances).

As an all‑volunteer nonprofit, we rely entirely on the generosity of individuals and organizations to make our work possible.
