Remember former Pet of the Week, Wolfe? Well, meet Dutch — the same pup, now living his best life in his forever home. In his family’s own words, here’s how his Happy Tail unfolded:
Dutch (formerly known as Wolfe) was the perfect dog for our family! He has sooooo much energy, and can’t play enough chase in the yard with our other shelter dog, Brodi, who is sometimes connected at the hip. Dutch was really hesitant to be around us when we first adopted him, only wanting to stay in his corner of our dining room. But after several weeks of treats and laying down at his level, he would finally get close enough to give him a nose scratch. Two years later, he’s starting to greet company, and loves to snuggle while watching TV. We’ve nicknamed him “Dutch the Destroyer” because new stuffed toys (and dropped dryer sheets!) don’t usually stand a chance against him. One of the few exceptions to this is his gingerbread house, which was the first toy he played with and will usually be found in his dog bed at night.

Thank You for Helping Us Raise $2,400!
Thank you to every single person who gave, shared, and supported FLEAS during North Texas Gives to Animals. Because of you, we were able to raise $2,400 for local pets and families — an incredible show of compassion from our community.
Your generosity means more full bowls through our Pet Food Pantry, more litters prevented through spay/neuter assistance, and more medical support for shelter pets who arrive scared, sick, or injured. Every dollar you gave helps us step in faster, help more families stay together, and give more animals the second chances they deserve.

☀️ Keeping Pets Safe in Extreme Texas Heat
Summer heat hits hard in North Texas, and our pets feel it long before we do. From hot pavement to heatstroke risks, even quick errands or short walks can become dangerous this time of year.
The Texas Humane Network has an excellent, easy‑to‑read guide on recognizing heat exhaustion, what to do if you see a pet in distress, and how to keep your own animals safe as temperatures climb.
