Big News: Our Pet Food Pantry Is On the Move!
|

|
|
Exciting changes are coming! The FLEAS Pet Food Pantry and the Little Elm Area Food Bank are relocating in February, and we can’t wait to share what’s next. A fresh space means new opportunities to support even more pets and families — and we’ll be revealing the new location soon.
|
To stay in the loop, make sure you’re following us on social media. That’s where all the updates (and a few behind‑the‑scenes peeks) will drop first.
|
In the meantime, our community can still keep those food bowls full. Pet food donations can be dropped off at Towers Tap House or Dogtopia, and anything purchased through our online wishlists will be delivered straight to a FLEAS team member.
|

Wishing Therese Hoofnagle Well in Retirement
|
|
|
|
|
Many of you may have heard that Therese Hoofnagle recently retired from her role as Managing Director of Animal Services for the Town of Little Elm. Leadership changes matter in any shelter setting, and this one marks a transition point for Little Elm Animal Services and the community that supports it.
|
Back in the summer of 2022, I had been thinking a lot about the pace of growth in Little Elm and what that could mean for the shelter. When a town grows quickly, the needs grow too—more calls, more stray intake, more families needing help, and more pressure on staff, space, and resources. I felt strongly that we needed a way for the community to step in with additional support alongside what the Town could provide.
|
I met with Therese to talk through the shelter’s current needs and to share my idea for forming a group that could provide extra resources and strengthen support around the shelter. She was receptive to that conversation and supportive of the concept, and that early alignment helped get our organization off the ground in a practical way.
|
Over the years, Therese and her team worked through the daily realities that come with sheltering—capacity challenges, urgent medical needs, difficult cases, and the emotional weight of the work. She also maintained relationships with rescue groups to help increase placement opportunities, especially when the shelter was under pressure. Those partnerships, along with community involvement, have always been an important part of improving outcomes for animals.
|
As Therese retires, we also recognize the importance of continuity. Tamara Cervi will be stepping into the Managing Director role, and Therese played a role in preparing her for that transition. Friends of Little Elm Animal Support looks forward to working with Tamara and the Animal Services team as we continue focusing on what matters most: supporting the shelter’s mission and helping animals move toward safe, stable outcomes.

On behalf of Friends of Little Elm Animal Support, we wish Therese well in retirement and thank her for her service to Little Elm. We also want to recognize the Animal Services staff who show up every day to do demanding work—often under challenging circumstances—and we remain committed to doing our part to support them and the animals in their care.
